Long Distance Touch

Long Distance Touch is a sculpture that uses hydraulics to send physical non-digital signals across a distance. The piece only sends subtle touch and only works when both control units are used by two people at the same time

Long Distance Touch prototypes

The sculpture went through three versions. One has each side filled with hydraulic syringes in boxes, stretched between long tubes of water. The second changed the boxes to hand shapes. The third narrowed the syringes to 6 on each side, and looked more like an alien space ship control unit

Long Distance Touch video

This video demonstrates how the sculpture works. I was alone in the test so the interaction is incomplete
