Plastic Food
I was paired up with a local creamery for the group show Artists in the Kitchen. The show focused on displaying the work of business owners and artists who identified as women. The piece Candied Kumquat and Cardamom is based on an ice cream sample from the creamery
Candied Kumquat and Cardamom
I created a sculpture that shows the landscape of ice cream flavor within a never melting swirl. This is commenting on the imagery of food often found in magazines, menus and websites. To keep the food looking fresh throughout a hot light photo session, the food is often composed of non-melting or synthetic versions of the real thing.
